Being able to get accepted into a tremendous program where I will learn the basics of becoming a journalist was a great, unexpected experience. We explored the different types of journalism such as broadcasting, radio, and being a reporter. I am very happy to be a part of the workshop. Not only did I learn a lot, I also got to meet a lot of new people. I’m a shy person who doesn’t really like to talk, but for sure this program got me out of my shell. When I got rid of my shyness I actually began to have a lot of fun.
My dream still stays of me becoming a journalist and making it a career. This program just opened variety of doors for me and I will take what I learn and put it to use in school and what ever I do in life.
The cool experience you get out of this program is how it actually is to be a college student. Don’t get me wrong, it was fun but I did have to learn how to budget my money and not get tempted to buy the whole store.
I also enjoyed having a roommate. It was super new at first because you barely know your roommate when you first get there. Later through the week we all clicked and developed strong bonds. I had some unforgettable laughs and moments that I will never forget.
You also meet people while walking. Like yesterday I got to meet two female basketball players from the U of A women’s basketball team. I met Carissa Crutchfield #4 who is a current graduate from the U of A. The second player I met was Ali Gloyd #30 who is currently a senior and her position she plays in a forward. It was an unforgettable opportunity.

What I learned is to enjoy the unexpected, and to just go with the flow. You never know what’s going to happen or where you’ll end up. Live a little in life and try new things. Never be afraid to meet new people, because you will learn so much from who they are and where they come from. I learned to enjoy what life throws towards you and cherish the unexpected.
