Friday has finally come and the week is at its an end. Some say they look forward to the best day of the week but today I don't look forward to it being friday. It is not due to me having a bad day. but to the program being close to an end. I appreciate so much of what has been done for us here. I have definitely made new friends and feel like I got closer to others.
I'll start with my thank you's early, so here is a shout out to Elena, Tom, and Danae Staufffer who have provided us with food, smile, love and made us feel like we are a family. They have all really made this program worthwhile and helped create memories that will last a lifetime. Elena with her mother and leader charm, Tom with his amazing culinary skills, and Danae with her greatness. She has made fun funner, laughs louder, smiles bigger and the time well spent. As a young journalist who looks up to many people I find it important to have role models and I have definitely added to the list.
My next shout out goes to a person who has made my writing better, spent time reading every piece, has spoken to us all, has smiled and made us laugh, and has made some people really appreciative and excited about the field of journalism. Her name is Susan Knight. I have written about her earlier but I have yet to share my opinion about her. and here goes: She is such an inspiration!! I have found a mentor that i wont ever let go. I have accepted her into my circle and wont ever loose touch. Knight has taught me how to edit properly, showed me the power behind commas, has given me her life story and even showed me how i can continue my future in journalism. Susan Knight has done so much for everyone and continues to stay in our hearts.
This program has brought in so many mentors, and guests. I thank Anna, Joe, Susan, Carmen, Danny, Nesto, and everyone who came to talk and inspire us. We all have expanded our minds in some way, shape or form. And I know that everyone appreciated it. What i think engaged people the most was the microphones from the radio, the film by Anna, the column from Neto and even the intro from Nancy Sharkey.
Now comes to the shout out to the people who have kept their eyes on us. Amanda Martinez and David Del Grand. They are magical, wonderful, sweet, kind, funny, interesting, smart, cool, and so much more! They are two of the greatest people i have met at the workshop. We may all be a different age but it seems like we have so much in common. We are all kids at heart and hanging out with them has been so fun. They are amazing in all ways! I added them on Facebook and look forward to asking them so much questions and hanging out. I think we all do. So thank you so so so so so much for everything!
I would love to thank everone else I missed. That means Ashlee,Jocelin, and all our interviewees, anyone who stopped and looked at us and anyone who thought of us! I can't share my love, enjoyment, and appreciation any more so this is where I call it a day. This is Pascal Albright signing out for now!
