However, things really changed because I feel as if I made some great friends and really learned a lot about myself and about the community we live in. I got the amazing opportunity to be with people who were passionate about subjects I care about. But what I think was the most impactful part of this workshop was one of my mentors, Kayla Belcher.
Kayla got stuck working with me a few times this week, and I developed a relationship that really touched my heart. She didn’t talk to me from an administrative level or as if I were a kid, which allowed me to connect with her in many ways.
Thanks to her, I now am considering goals and opportunities that I didn’t think possible in the beginning of the week—and I am ever so grateful for that.
I just would like to say that I now have a friend here at the University of Arizona who has had a very positive impact on my life. I hope I stay in touch with her because she is truly an amazing person.
