On the afternoon of Tuesday, June 6, 2017, Dr. Cecil Schwalbe brought several rattlesnakes for us to learn how to move safely. At first, I was afraid to even look at the snakes. I saw a few of my peers use special snake tongs to move the rattlers from one trash can to another one. They then had two friendly snakes for us to pet, which was fun. I didn't want to touch them, but Alan made me. Finally, John put one on my neck, and I felt it lick my arm. I freaked out, but I was also very proud of myself for having it on my neck. I also played with baby tortoises and saw a Gila monster. After that, I was able to pet a real diamondback. Its skin felt relaxing and smooth.
