Alan Davis fell in love with journalism when he took a class in high school. He even wrote for his school newspaper. Davis always loved writing and knew he had to follow his passion. He decided to major in journalism when he attended the University of Arizona, and he stuck with it until he graduated. “I didn’t think I would stick to one major,” he said. After he graduated, Davis produced videos for UA's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. One of the video pieces he worked on, called Earthlight, won a regional Emmy. He has also worked with PBS. |
Beyond the Mirage, another piece he produced with his team from the college, has recently been submitted to be nominated for a national Emmy.
“I was proud of the work I did,” he said.
After that, Davis became a freelancer because he wanted to explore what was out there. “I wanted to be my own boss,” he said.
Davis produced commercials and shot promos for Canon, a camera company, and also worked with National Geographic. His work with National Geographic was more journalistic compared with the photographic work he had done before.
Davis considers himself an environmental multimedia reporter and producer.
He likes being his own boss, waking up and going to work when he pleases. His favorite part is being able to make his favorite oatmeal in the morning without feeling rushed.
Davis plans to do more in the future.
